The Hampton Bays Historical & Preservation Society was founded in 1994 to preserve and document local history and to provide educational resources to the local community. The Society maintains a collection of family records, genealogies, and other artifacts that are preserved for historians and future generations. The Society is also steward of several historic properties, the King House, the Lyzon Hat Shop, the Canoe Place Inn and three Southampton Town owned cemeteries.
The Hampton Bays Historical & Preservation Society, with help from the Town of Southampton, has completed the restoration of the Canoe Place Chapel & the Lyzon Hat Shop Museum. The Society is planning a Grand Opening for the Lyzon Hat Shop Museum and looks forward to a summer of fun events at our new sites!
